Her Interview
Ten minutes with Elizabeth
01What do you attribute your success to?
I contribute everything to my trust in God and my faith. I could not do anything without my amazing parents who are the best support system. I also attribute a lot of my success in the last 6-7 years to the fantastic leadership at RXO, including my managers, directors, VP of HR and CHRO.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My parents told me early in my career to show your work, do the job, and show that you are passionate about what you're doing. Even in lower-paying roles or when passed over for promotion, leaders will see the hard work and value, and it won't go unnoticed. Push through when it gets hard, stick it out, work hard and prove yourself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Starting out can be really hard with decisions you may not agree with, but if you work hard and prove your worth, you can do anything. Be confident in yourself but humble about it. Don't be afraid to ask questions or say you don't know something and ask for help. Work hard, ask questions, be confident.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The job market plays a huge portion in our challenges. Cost of living is going up so people want more compensation or growth opportunities. When hiring, we look at whether we can be that place for the person as a short-term or long-term solution. In softer freight markets like 2022-2023 we weren't hiring as much, but now with an uptick we have more roles open and it's harder to find candidates. Compensation in some roles has increased over time.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Trust, honesty and loyalty are most important. Loyalty means pushing through. Honesty is important in talent acquisition and HR to own your mistakes and correct them. Solutions-oriented thinking is key - if you go into a problem with a solution, you will have better outcomes and create a more cohesive positive environment. Transparency and trusting that we have the right people and good leadership.
