What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to what my family instilled in me, particularly the work ethic to keep going. My dad was an immigrant and worked very hard to get where he was in his life, so I think I just learned it from him. Growing up with those values and seeing his dedication really shaped how I approach my career and life.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to continuously evolve, adapt, and commit to lifelong learning, as there is always something new to discover. In clinical research, the field is constantly advancing, requiring professionals to stay current with evolving regulations, methodologies, and industry standards. It is truly a career defined by ongoing learning and growth.

The opportunities within clinical research are extensive. Professionals can begin in entry-level roles, such as research assistants, progress to clinical research coordinators, and continue advancing into more specialized or leadership positions. With so many diverse pathways available, there is significant potential for career development and expansion. Ultimately, the possibilities are vast for those willing to grow and adapt.

My advice to young women entering this field is simple: don’t give up. The clinical research industry is becoming increasingly inclusive, with more opportunities emerging for women to grow and succeed. I have found the environment to be well-balanced and supportive.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My field offers a wide range of opportunities, with numerous areas for specialization and professional growth. At the same time, it presents distinct challenges. The regulatory environment is rigorous, requiring patience and a strong attention to detail—this is not a field where processes can be rushed.

Competition can also be significant, particularly during study initiation, where timely enrollment is critical to success. One of the primary challenges is identifying and recruiting appropriate participants while ensuring that all procedures are conducted accurately and thoroughly documented.

Successfully navigating these complexities is essential to meeting study objectives and maintaining the highest standards of clinical research.
