Ten minutes with Elizabeth
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to determination, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning. Throughout my career, I have embraced new challenges, remained open to change, and consistently sought opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills. Balancing my professional responsibilities with raising three children has also strengthened my time management, resilience, and ability to prioritize what matters most. These experiences have taught me to remain focused, adaptable, and persistent while continuing to grow both personally and professionally.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received has come from mentors who encouraged me to build a strong foundation while remaining open to growth. Brandie, in particular, taught me essential office skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and technical writing, which have continued to serve me throughout my career. I have also been fortunate to work with my company's current owner who encourages me to pursue my goals and supports my professional development. These experiences have reinforced the importance of learning from others, continually developing my skills, and being willing to pursue new opportunities.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the insurance industry is to approach your work with the heart of an educator rather than simply focusing on making a sale. Take the time to listen, understand each client’s needs, and clearly explain their options so they can make informed decisions. When you focus on educating and genuinely helping people, you build trust and lasting relationships, which ultimately creates a strong and sustainable book of business.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the insurance industry right now is the rapidly changing Medicare landscape in New Mexico, including rate increases, carriers withdrawing from certain markets, and non-compliant solicitation practices that can create confusion for consumers. At the same time, these changes present an important opportunity for knowledgeable insurance professionals to provide accurate education, clear guidance, and personalized support. I believe professionals who stay informed, follow compliance requirements, and take the time to help clients understand their options can make a meaningful difference while building trust within the communities they serve.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are the fruits of the spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. I believe in approaching every interaction with honesty, compassion, and a willingness to help, particularly in an industry where people often need guidance to make important decisions. I strive to maintain an educational mindset rather than focusing solely on sales, taking the time to understand people’s needs and help them make informed choices. I value continuous growth, meaningful connections, and serving others with integrity.
