Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I credit my success to resilience and the inspiration I get from my daughter, who has been my driving force since I became a single mom when she was six weeks old. I’ve earned my Executive MBA, achieved my black belt, and advanced in my career, all motivated by the promise to show her that nothing can hold us back.

Professionally, I focus on shaping the future responsibly, especially in change management and technology. I aim to help people engage thoughtfully with AI and other innovations, ensuring they understand the systems behind them rather than just consume the outputs.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I received came from reading Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg right before I joined Gallo, and I'm so thankful I did, because Gallo is very hard to work for. You have to work really hard there. To have the ability to walk into a room and sit at the table and not feel awkward about it and realize you're just sitting across a table from another human that has more experience, and it's not something you need to be intimidated about, because I knew when I came into the room, I was bringing something of value. My biggest difficulty was recognizing that I am good at what I do, and just because my voice is of a higher tone, and it takes me a little bit longer to get points across, because I'm not the top dog in the room, doesn't mean that what I bring isn't valuable.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to trust your judgment and always listen to your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, speak up. You don’t have to know everything from day one—you never stop learning, even after 25 years in this field. Don’t let that hold you back from contributing ideas, asking questions, or suggesting solutions; sometimes the smallest idea can lead to the biggest impact.

Remember, you were chosen for a reason, so don’t let imposter syndrome keep you from using your voice. Seek mentors, take care of your mental health, and advocate for yourself—this is a challenging industry, but your perspective matters.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now revolve around the human and organizational side of AI adoption. It’s critical to address the emotional and change-management aspects, ensuring that stakeholders understand and trust the technology. Transparency is key—we must avoid black-box AI decisions and make sure people know how outcomes are being generated. Equally important is pairing AI initiatives with strong program and project management, as well as preparing business processes and infrastructure to fully support these innovations.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both work and life are empathy, transparency, mentorship, and trusting your own judgment. I strive to understand how technology impacts people, ensure AI is used responsibly and openly, support others through guidance and mentorship, and always listen to my instincts when making decisions.
