Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I had a close friend in high school commit suicide, and that experience has driven my passion for this work. Neuromodulation is a life-saving treatment - it's non-drug, non-invasive transcranial magnetic stimulation - and I wanted to help patients who were trying and failing antidepressants and not finding any relief. When I came across Neurostar TMS, the company I currently work for, I was fascinated by the fact that it's non-invasive and non-drug, and the results we were seeing were absolutely phenomenal. I wanted to dive in, so I actually went and worked for a couple of psychiatrists for a few years, and they had purchased Neurostar TMS, which is how I was introduced to this technology. As a servant leader, my passion is patient care, and I feel that helping people through this life-saving treatment is what drives my success.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always network—treat every interaction, whether on the job or in meetings, as an opportunity to gain insight and perspective, because learning from others’ experiences is invaluable.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay focused on your mission and purpose—while the landscape is challenging, it can lead to a deeply fulfilling, lifelong career.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

As practicing psychiatrists who are trying to offer this life-saving treatment with neuromodulation, we are confined by the health insurance policies and parameters that they place on us, which creates barriers of access to care. This greatly impacts our patients negatively. My biggest barrier is that I basically have health insurance telling my doctors what they can and cannot do.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are integrity, ethics, punctuality, and follow-through.
