Her Story
About Elizabeth
Right when I walk through the door, I'm putting out fires, whether that be helping a technician find a part in our storage room or a job needing to be rescheduled. That's what we're getting done first and foremost. Then I'm ensuring that my team is completing all of their work orders and tickets, all the phone calls. I work closely with our technicians as well as the project managers, and we also work hand-in-hand with our customers. I prefer for it to be a busy day because the days where it's slow, I'm like, what am I doing? And knock on wood, we don't have very many slow days. In the warranty and service department, we're almost all women, so it's great to be surrounded by people where we all want each other to do well and we're all part of a team.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Elizabeth
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say my success comes down to a mix of consistency, curiosity, and the values I learned growing up—especially from my mom. She never gave up and was always working to improve not just her own situation, but also to support our family and help others. She’s very passionate about the work she does, and that really influenced me—I’ve developed that same passion for my own work.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to trust my knowledge and not shrink myself to make others comfortable. Working in a male-dominated industry, that’s been especially important. Early on, it was easy to second-guess myself, but I was encouraged to speak up, stand behind my work, and not feel like I had to prove myself more than anyone else.
I’ve taken that to heart, and it’s helped me become more confident not just with my team, but also with customers. I focus a lot on listening, understanding what they really want, and guiding them with honest, knowledgeable recommendations. I think that balance of confidence and strong customer service helps build trust and long-term relationships.
Over time, I’ve seen that when you show up with both expertise and a genuine focus on the customer, people respect that and feel comfortable working with you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have tough skin. Don't be afraid to speak up. You have everyone coming at you, whether that be the homeowners, the technicians, the project managers, everyone saying we need this to get done, so you have to take everything with a grain of salt and just persevere and know that you're going to get it completed and you'll do it well. You just have to have patience.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Definitely growth. That has been a hurdle for quite some time. I was worried that I wasn't going to move forward in my career, and of course, that changed. There are limitations when it comes to the industry itself on where you can go and what you can do. But thinking outside of the box and looking not just within the company that you work for, there's plenty of great jobs, whether it be with the manufacturer or working with our subcontractors or the people who sell the product. There's always something if it's not where you currently are, so my biggest thing is building relationships with everyone that I work with.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are integrity, personal growth, and respect for others. I believe that as long as what you’re doing is positive and doesn’t harm yourself or others, it’s something worth pursuing.
I’m also very self-motivated. What really keeps me going is the expectation I set for myself—I want to do well, and I know I’m capable of continuing to improve. While I’m always grateful for the support and guidance I’ve received along the way, I take a lot of pride in holding myself accountable and pushing myself to grow.
I’ve found that when I focus on improving myself, it naturally has a positive impact on the people around me—whether that’s my team or my customers. That mindset carries into both my work and personal life.
