Liza Seawell, MBA, SHRM-CP
Liza Seawell is the Chief of Staff at Harmony Venture Labs, where she supports company creation, product work, and go-to-market efforts while helping to shape internal operations and culture. An operations generalist with a heart for people, Liza brings practical HR experience and a curiosity-driven leadership style to the role, showing up to improve day-to-day experiences and help teams scale effectively.
Before joining Harmony Venture Labs, Liza developed her HR and operations chops at Mission Pet Health (formerly Southern Veterinary Partners), where she worked in HR programs, HRIS/Dayforce implementations, and operations implementation. Her hands-on experience during a major merger accelerated her learning and gave her early exposure to strategic HR practices and implementation work that supported onboarding, events, and culture initiatives—contributions that coincided with strong organizational recognition for employee experience.
Liza holds both a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an MBA from Samford University, and she is SHRM-certified (SHRM-CP). She volunteers with Young Life and other local causes, and she describes curiosity and asking good questions as core leadership tools—approaches she uses to mentor others and continuously learn while protecting time for the people and projects that matter most.

What do you attribute your success to?
I think my parents and my upbringing had a lot to do with it. My education from Samford was top-notch, and I had really wonderful professors. The people I've met along the way have really done a lot to shape me. I've been so blessed to have really incredible mentors so early on in my career. My mom started her own business before I was born, and even hearing her experience has made me so much more ambitious as a result. I think being able to take chances has been key - I had a recruiter reach out to me on LinkedIn about Harmony Venture Labs, and even though I was really happy where I was and loved the people and what I was doing, I was still willing to raise my hand and learn about another opportunity. So I think it's just being willing to listen and willing to say yes, even if it takes you out of your comfort zone.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don’t be afraid to lean in and ask questions. Challenge the idea that HR is only about rules and focus on improving people’s day-to-day experiences—being curious and willing to learn will open doors and opportunities.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are treating others with respect, embracing curiosity, and being willing to learn—even if it means being the “dumbest person in the room.” I strive to leave a positive impact wherever I work, making spaces better through my presence, and I balance this with personal time for family, reading, and staying active at Pure Barre.
