About Elizabeth
Elizabeth Sorg is an Insurance Broker at Heritage Insurance & Investments based in Salem, Indiana. She specializes in helping individuals—particularly seniors and Medicare beneficiaries—navigate complex healthcare and insurance decisions. In her role, she works closely with clients to simplify insurance options, guide plan selection, and provide ongoing support with billing concerns and coverage issues. Her approach emphasizes education, clarity, and long-term client relationships built on trust and accessibility.
Before entering the insurance industry, Elizabeth spent six years working as a woodworking manufacturer and CNC operator after high school. Her transition into insurance was inspired by witnessing widespread confusion around Medicare and the challenges individuals faced in understanding their coverage options. Motivated to make a difference, she pursued licensure through pre-licensing education and successfully passed her state insurance exam, quickly establishing herself in the field as a dedicated and client-focused professional.
In her current career, Elizabeth is active in professional development through the National Association of Benefit and Insurance Professionals (NABIP), where she contributes as a board member in her local chapter and serves as a mentor to newer agents. She is recognized as a top producer within her agency and is known for her expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, and healthcare advocacy. Her work is grounded in simplifying complex insurance language, advocating for clients’ needs, and ensuring individuals receive the support and understanding they need to make informed healthcare decisions.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Elizabeth
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say definitely all the support I have from my family, from an agency I work at. We're kind of a mom-and-pop shop agency in a very small town in Indiana. I have developed quite a few mentors in NABIP alone and love it because it's such a big part of my growth in the industry.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say definitely dig into different resources and always get connections with different agents in the area. There is more than enough to go around for everybody. Make all the connections you can with local doctor's offices, rehab facilities, nursing homes, senior centers. Be a resource to people out there. Don't just stick yourself in an office and be stuck alone.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is that in Medicare the carriers can change the plans at any point leaving agents to pivot and adapt. Another challenge is all the misinformation leaving elders at risk and confused by letters, sales calls, scams and fraud. On the opportunity side there is more than enough room for more agents and the next generation needs to step up as most agents are near retirement age. It is a fulfilling industry that challenges you mentally.
