About Elizabeth

Elizabeth Wood is a professional with careers in social work and textile design. She earned a bachelor's degree in humanities and philosophy from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and a Master's in Social Work from UC Berkeley. Her social work focused on community organizing and planning, including health and housing issues and strategic planning at the Camden Area Health Education Center in Camden, New Jersey. After retiring from social work, she pursued textile design and batik, studying at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences. She worked as a freelancer in textile design and served as co-chair of the New Jersey Designer Craftsman Organization for the southern half of New Jersey. Wood has conducted workshops and slide lectures on Indonesian batik, including at the Textile Museum in Washington, D.C., and Cornell University.
