Her Interview
Ten minutes with Ember
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from my mom who was a very hard-working woman who came from nothing. Her work ethic inspired me. Being able to travel and experience new cultures shows there's more to learn and there are better days ahead.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always do something that you enjoy doing and have room for growth. Don't become complacent in something where you can't see yourself in the next 5 years. Always look for the next room to grow into something bigger, or if you're happy, continue to stay happy.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't let anyone convince you otherwise that you can't do this. It is uncommon but more women are getting into it. Try your very best, and it's okay if you fail because it's part of learning and getting back up and trying something new. Be proud of yourself for trying something new.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is trucking has a 90% turnover rate because it is a demanding job. But there is growth opportunity if you want a career change quickly. It only took 2 months to obtain a CDL and then make decent pay with benefits.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I am a believer in Jesus Christ and a Christian, so religion plays a key role. I pray daily for protection on the road. Fitness and showing up better as a woman for friends and family. Being a supportive person.
