About Emely

Emely Romero Farfan is an accomplished accounting professional currently serving as Senior Staff Accountant at The Sharon at SouthPark, a position she has held since September 2024. In this role, she manages key accounting functions, including month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, journal entries, bank and general ledger reconciliations, year-end accounting, and budget support. Her career also includes experience as a Senior Accountant and Staff Accountant with Killingsworth Environmental, as well as accounting experience with Latin Business Solutions. Earlier in her career, she served as an Order Picker Team Leader at Stanley Black & Decker, where she led a team of 20 employees and developed valuable leadership and operational expertise. Romero earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an A.A. in General Studies from Central Piedmont Community College. Her professional strengths include financial reporting and analysis, balance sheet management, journal entries, payroll, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics 365, strategic planning, and leadership. She is known for being an enthusiastic and focused accountant who combines technical expertise with creative thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning. 01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to the strong values my parents instilled in me from an early age, which have guided my decisions, work ethic, and approach to life. My faith has played the biggest role in my journey, providing me with strength, purpose, and the foundation to remain grounded and focused throughout my career.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering the industry to be open to exploring different opportunities and not be afraid to try new things. Every experience, including failure, can provide valuable lessons and help shape your path forward. Stay resilient, keep moving forward, and never stop learning, because there is always something new to discover, develop, and apply throughout your career.
