Her Interview

Ten minutes with Emilly

01What do you attribute your success to?

Passion. I just wanting more than what I had growing up, and I don't mean financially, I mean knowledge-wise. It's just there's a passion to continue to grow and learn.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice is to remember where you came from, and keep working towards your goal. A manager years ago told me, you have great potential, just don't stop, don't give up. Just because you get negative feedback doesn't mean that that's where you stop. She always told me, just keep going, don't stop. Just remember where you came from.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't stop. A hurdle is just a hurdle. Jump it, keep going, because there's gonna be many of them, and as women, we tend to kind of fall in the shadow of men and what they've accomplished. We just need to stay the line, keep the eye on the goal.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The ever-evolving world that we live in. We upgrade our cell phones every year or two. Healthcare is no different. There's always something new, and there's a curve in understanding and learning that, and not just learning and understanding it, but being able to educate others on what's new and upcoming.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

To remain respectful and professional. You have to be slow to react and remember to respond versus reacting. I want others to respect and listen to the advice that I'm seeing based on my experience because I know where I started, it's important to make sure that you have the respect of others, and that's in my professional and personal life as well. Just to be very respectful and understand that others come and have different perspectives.
