About Emily
Emily K. Asemota serves as Collaborative Healthcare Manager at Lumina Care, where she leads efforts to improve patient outcomes by identifying gaps in care, developing SMART goals, and ensuring continuity of clinical services for patients with complex and behavioral health diagnoses. With a unique blend of clinical, administrative, and project management expertise, Emily brings a servant leadership approach to healthcare, focusing on patient-centered solutions, quality improvement, and collaboration among multidisciplinary teams. Emily began her healthcare career as a pediatric nurse providing specialized one-on-one care for patients requiring G-button, tracheostomy, and ventilator support. She later advanced into roles as a Licensed Practical Nurse and Compliance Specialist within a home health agency, gaining experience in clinical operations, regulatory standards, and quality assurance. After earning her project management certification, Emily transitioned into healthcare administration and leadership roles, including Intake Coordinator, Scrum Master, and Project Manager at Molina Healthcare, where she guided four agile squads through the successful launch of a new state health plan. She also served as a Utilization Review Nurse managing prior authorizations and clinical reviews, and as a Clinical Care Manager overseeing intake processes, referrals, insurance verification, infection reporting, and care coordination. Emily holds a background in English Language and Literature, a Licensed Vocational Nurse License, Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Professional Practice in Regulatory Science and Clinical Research at Arizona State University. As a healthcare Professional in leadership, she credits her success to resilience, continuous improvement, and recognizing the opportunities available to make a meaningful impact. Driven by a commitment to service, Emily continues to advocate for patients of the vulnerable population, while dedicating her career to advancing healthcare quality, innovation, research and compassionate patient care.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my resilience, determination, and appreciation for the opportunities available to me. As an immigrant from Nigeria, I have always recognized the value of growth and the possibilities that come with being in an environment where I can maximize my full potential. I remind myself not to become complacent, because I understand the challenges and limitations I may have faced if I had remained in a place with fewer opportunities. This perspective fuels my drive to continue learning, improving myself, and making the most of every opportunity. My goal is not only to achieve personal success but also to give back and create opportunities that positively impact others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To always keep my head up, give room for growth and never doubt myself...
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to believe in themselves and recognize the value of their ideas, skills, and perspectives. Nothing is too ambitious when you are willing to work toward your goals with confidence and determination. I encourage women to embrace their abilities, share their ideas boldly, and never minimize themselves to fit someone else’s expectations. The next generation and the world need the contributions, creativity, and leadership that each woman has to offer, so do not be afraid to take up space and make your voice heard.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
People quit easily in Healthcare, not realizing that they have to be agile and be able to adapt to change. The opportunities are numerous, you just have to believe in yourself, put in the work and go for it!
