Emily Borst
Emily Borst is a Lead Designer and Copywriter at MegaFood, a natural vitamins and supplements company, where she is the key creative voice of the internal creative team, known as MegaStudio.
In her role, she contributes to all visual and written creative output, including digital advertising, email campaigns, and packaging design, ensuring consistency and excellence across every touchpoint. She is the architect behind the company’s comprehensive brand guidelines and is currently art directing a full-scale rebrand, managing everything from updated visual identity systems to packaging redesign. Working within a highly collaborative, all-female performance marketing and operations team, Emily plays a central role in shaping the brand’s creative direction while maintaining alignment with its values. With a strong foundation in brand-building, Emily approaches design with both strategic and creative intent. She frequently travels to direct photo and video shoots, ensuring that every visual asset reflects the brand’s identity and quality standards. Earlier this year, she was on set in Los Angeles overseeing a major campaign production, further demonstrating her hands-on leadership and attention to detail. Her work reflects a balance of creativity, precision, and accountability—especially important in a company committed to sustainability and responsible practices as a certified B Corp.
Emily earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Packaging Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2015, a program known for its emphasis on branding and consumer experience. Since the start of her career, she has remained dedicated to working in-house, helping brands grow from within and ensuring cohesive storytelling across all platforms. Passionate about consumer goods and purposeful design, she brings both creativity and intention to her work, continually evolving alongside the brands she helps build.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being goal-focused while maintaining a strong connection with people. I think of myself as being naturally curious and always looking to learn, and I try to stay open to new ideas and perspectives. I pride myself on being detailed-oriented, which helps me build strong, meaningful relationships, especially in my industry where the details really matter.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received is to bring solutions, not just problems. If something feels off, don’t just point it out. It's important to come with a perspective on how to improve it. It makes conversations more productive and shows that you’re invested in the outcome, especially when working cross-functionally.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To young women entering the design field today: remember that your unique perspective is always an asset. The way you think, what you’ve experienced, and what you notice all bring something new to the table. Never be afraid to share your ideas, and if you feel passionate about them speak up and advocate even when it feels uncomfortable.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges right now is integrating AI in a way that still feels human and authentic, especially in design. It requires thoughtful consideration of how we use these tools while maintaining creativity and originality. This becomes even more complex working within a natural food and supplement company that prioritizes sustainability and ethical responsibility. Because MegaFood is a certified B Corp and member of 1% for the Planet, I believe we have to ensure that our use of AI aligns with our values and commitment to people and the planet.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In life and work I value curiosity, creativity, and not taking life too seriously. I try to approach everything with a sense of childlike wonder. You can find inspiration in such unexpected places if you ask questions and stay open minded. Similarly, I believe in the art of noticing: paying attention to small details and everyday moments. The principle of paying attention to things that often go overlooked helps me stay present, think more creatively, and bring a sense of warmth and intention to everything I do.
