Her Story
About Emily
Emily Clare is the Founder and Principal Consultant of her grant strategy company, which she established in 2024. She has served as a district administrator in a school district for 24 years while simultaneously running her company, writing and managing grants during school hours and handling grant strategy for clients on nights and weekends. She holds an EDD in educational leadership, and her dissertation focused on workforce development for secondary students. Her main areas of expertise are workforce development and grant strategy. She attributes her success to daily effort and consistency, even when not motivated. One notable achievement is developing and implementing the first manufacturing internship for high school students in her county, which continues to run today.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to daily effort, even when I'm not motivated, even when I'm tired, even when I'd rather do something else. Consistency is greater than motivation.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Decide what you want to do and then figure out what you can do today to inch yourself towards whatever that is. Doing something small today actually does get you closer to some long-term goal.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just keep working at it. If something doesn't work out the way that you expect it to the first time, just keep going after it. Every no is a learning opportunity.
