Her Story

About Emily

I've always been in client services throughout my career, and most of that has been in digital marketing from a broader view. However, now I'm specifically in social media for healthcare professionals. The title currently is, account lead for those clients. I started off in account services in New York for an agency that focused on recruitment media advertising. I worked for them for about 7 years... then I moved to kind of a small startup... for about 2 years, and then I missed talking to clients, so now I'm back in the client service area.

Ten minutes with Emily

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think just being naturally curious about the roles that I've been in. Being curious about the pieces around that can help you succeed, really in any career, and having personal relationships internally. I don't just treat work as work, I like to know the people I work with and understand where they're coming from.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Always ask questions. Especially when it comes to clients, clients really appreciate when you ask questions, even if you think, oh, should I know this? They really appreciate that you at least clarify. If I don't understand it, my client isn't going to be able to understand it, and I won't be able to explain it to them.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

We're missing the end numbers because clients own those numbers. So many times we're running a campaign, and we can say it was effective in all these different areas, but because we're not the ones owning if you're going to purchase, or fill out a form, or what you're going to do with that contact information in the end of running a campaign, I think that's something that we're looking forward to solving, hopefully, in the future.
