Her Story
About Emily
Emily Guzman is the CEO and Founder of Event Captura, a bilingual photo booth and event services company based in Columbus, Ohio. After beginning her career as a financial banker with JP Morgan, she identified a significant gap in the wedding industry while planning her own bilingual wedding—the lack of bilingual vendors who could provide an inclusive experience for all guests. Inspired by that experience, she launched Event Captura in 2023, just two months after getting married. Today, she leads a growing business that specializes in bilingual photo booth experiences for weddings, quinceañeras, corporate events, and community celebrations, with a mission to ensure every guest feels seen, heard, and included. Drawing on her educational background in business and Spanish, Emily has built a company known for delivering customized, authentic event experiences tailored to diverse audiences. Under her leadership, Event Captura has earned more than 30 five-star reviews and has gained much of its growth through word-of-mouth referrals and strong relationships within the event industry. Her innovative approach and commitment to excellence have earned recognition through features on iHeartRadio and NBC4. She is also an active member of the Westerville Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau, where the company maintains an A+ rating, Devoted Wedding Ohio, and WeddingWire. Beyond her entrepreneurial success, Emily is passionate about supporting her community and helping others succeed. She contributes to organizations and initiatives including the Magical Moments Foundation, the Westerville Back to School Bash, and local New Albany community events. She believes authenticity, inclusivity, and meaningful relationships are the foundation of both business and life. Guided by perseverance and a strong support system of family, friends, clients, and fellow vendors, Emily continues to grow her business while creating memorable experiences that celebrate people, cultures, and life's most meaningful moments.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Emily
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work, the unwavering support of my family and friends, and the loyalty of my clients. My mother invested in my dream by purchasing our first trailer, my mother-in-law helps care for our toddler during long event days, and the vendors from my own wedding were incredibly supportive as I launched my business. Their encouragement, combined with perseverance and meaningful client relationships, has been instrumental in my growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to never give up. Building a business from the ground up requires persistence, especially when resources are limited and challenges arise. As a business owner, success often means working beyond a traditional schedule, staying committed through difficult times, and trusting that perseverance will ultimately lead to achieving your goals.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to network relentlessly and invest in building genuine relationships within the industry. Strong professional connections and referral partnerships will create far more opportunities than relying solely on one-time clients. Surround yourself with people who support your growth and continue learning from those around you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the event services industry is the growing number of providers and the misconceptions surrounding modern photo booth experiences. At the same time, this creates an opportunity to educate clients about the different types of photo booths and how each can be tailored to meet the unique needs of weddings, corporate events, and celebrations. I also believe in collaborating with fellow business owners, sharing ideas, and referring clients whenever possible to strengthen the industry as a whole.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Authenticity is the foundation of everything I do. I believe in being true to myself and ensuring that authenticity is reflected in my business. As a bilingual company, I am passionate about creating an inclusive environment where every guest feels seen, heard, valued, and welcomed. I also strive to provide a calm, supportive experience that allows clients to fully enjoy their special moments.
