Erica Alvarado is a Quality Inspector with extensive experience in produce quality assurance, retail distribution, community service, and public safety. She has built a 16-year career with H E B Grocery Co, where she currently specializes in inspecting inbound produce shipments, maintaining quality standards, and supporting product decisions for distribution across the Houston region. Her expertise includes evaluating fresh produce from global suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality expectations, and contributing to efficient warehouse operations.
Before becoming a Quality Inspector, Erica developed strong operational experience through her seven-year tenure in receiving at H-E-B, where she gained valuable knowledge of inventory handling, logistics, and retail processes. Earlier in her career, she served in law enforcement in Georgia, where she developed skills in independent decision-making, communication, and community engagement. Her diverse professional background has strengthened her ability to manage responsibilities, solve problems, and work effectively with individuals from different communities.
In addition to her professional work, Erica is committed to community wellness and service. She earned a Community Health Worker certification through the University of Houston and actively supports outreach efforts through the Community Health Worker Association. She continues to contribute to her community through volunteer work, providing assistance with health-related resources and paperwork, while also offering part-time care support for individuals in need. The best career advice I have ever received is to lead by example. I believe that true leadership is demonstrated through actions, integrity, and a willingness to set the standard for others. By consistently showing commitment, accountability, and respect, I can inspire those around me and contribute to a positive and productive environment.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are perseverance, serving others, kindness, and empathy. I believe that perseverance helps me overcome challenges and continue growing, while a commitment to serving others allows me to make a meaningful impact. Leading with kindness and empathy helps me build genuine connections, understand different perspectives, and create a positive environment for those around me.
