Her Story

About Erica

I've been in the healthcare field since 2012, giving me 18 years of experience caring for our nation's most vulnerable population. I currently serve as a Regional Director of Operations, where I oversee skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities. The administrators and executive directors report to me, and I help oversee and consult for their operational outcomes as well as their clinical outcomes, driving them to success and 5-star CMS ratings. I focus on both fiscal responsibility and general operational responsibility. Before this role, which I've held for about 10 months, I was a licensed nursing home administrator and senior administrator. What inspired me to get into this field is the opportunity to give back and to care for our nation's most vulnerable population. Last year, I won Nursing Home Administrator of the Year for the entire state of Florida, which was a tremendous honor among many accolades I've received throughout my career.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Erica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think just having a very goal-oriented mentality. I grew up with involvement in sports, and that just kind of paved the way for this competitive edge, but still being a team player. That sports background really shaped how I approach my work - always striving to win and achieve goals, but never forgetting that success comes from working well with others and building strong teams.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Always plan ahead. That advice has served me well throughout my career because it makes you more organized and everything goes by way smoother when you take the time to plan.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say, stay out of your own way. Don't let self-doubt or overthinking hold you back from achieving what you're capable of in this field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Developing strong leaders is the biggest opportunity in my field right now. Leadership is such a personal component and so character-specific that growing people into that mindset and making them into strong leaders for their people and the people that work for them - that's really where the greatest opportunity lies. It's about helping others develop the skills and character they need to lead effectively.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, hard work, and respect are the values most important to me in both my work and personal life. These principles guide everything I do and how I interact with others.
