Ten minutes with Erica
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say passion, hard work, and relationships. Most of the jobs, 90% of the opportunities I've gotten, I've gotten it because I've known somebody and had a good working relationship with them. The networking and I've been professional and I do a good job.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To go for it, you know? Be enthusiastic about what it is that they're passionate about, and just go all the way. Take opportunities, learn from them, be open to learning. Just keep learning, and try to stay motivated, try to stay aware of, especially working in like beauty, aware of the trends, the way things change all the time, you have to kind of be ahead of the game in that way. Learn about new products, and just keep pushing forward. Building relationships with people is how you get a lot of opportunities, honestly, nowadays. It's really about who you know.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Professionalism, kindness, respectfulness. Those things go a long way when you're professional and respectful people will be more likely to want to work with you. Just making sure you know your value also and being able to stand up for yourself in certain situations and know that you are supposed to be in that situation.
