Her Story
About Erica
Erica Niehues is a healthcare scheduling specialist and farm business owner based in Paola, Kansas. She currently works from home as a Specialist at AdventHealth, handling outpatient radiology scheduling and procedures, a role that provides the flexibility she sought after raising her three daughters. Her career includes prior experience as a CNA in a mother-baby unit at an HCA hospital during her college years, and she holds an associate's degree, medical certificates, and an active esthetician license. In addition to her healthcare work, Erica operates a full-time homestead farm stand business producing eggs, poultry, herbs, and European-inspired focaccia bread, for which she maintains a licensed egg dealer credential through Kansas State Agriculture. She is registered Native American, with her mother from Spain, and she credits her success to the support of her husband Jared and her family, who help with farm tasks. Erica donates to the ASPCA and previously fostered for American Brittany Rescue.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Erica
01What do you attribute your success to?
My family and their support are what I attribute my success to. I wouldn't be able to do this without the help of my husband and his support, and the kids' support. The kids help with the farm animals and dishes. It's a family effort.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Remember to take care of yourself and take a day of rest. Always prioritize carving out some time for yourself. Try to enjoy the process along the way because if you don't, it's not going to fill your cup.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Time is the biggest challenge. Carving out the time and having a structured day. I have a very rigid schedule where everything is timed, including picking herbs.
