Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ericka

01What do you attribute your success to?

Family, friends, experiences, hardships, and supportive community all played a role. Hardships drove me to become the person I am today, and both supportive and unsupportive people left an impact.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

It's not about the mistakes you make, it's how you handle them. Take your time, feel through it if needed, but get through it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Go for it. Dive in and learn everything you can about everything. There's so many different categories and stages. You might come in thinking you're a graphic designer and come out an installer or business development manager. Tackle it head on because you'll get more experience than a degree will give you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges: oversaturation of the industry with many shops doing the same thing. Opportunities: always room to grow, new technology, new processes, ability to pivot and learn new things over time.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity and honesty are key - you have to be honest about anything you do, start with trust to build an honest foundation. Passion and drive for whatever you do, putting in 110%.
