Dr. Erika Aziegbe, CCC/SLP, is a distinguished speech-language pathologist and educational leader with over 22 years of experience in teaching and supporting children with learning differences. She is the founder and Head of School at The Paracletus School, the first Christian Classical School for Children with Dyslexia, where she combines structured literacy, speech-language science, and classical education to help students rise, belong, and lead. Her work has transformed lives, including students who have made extraordinary gains in reading and language in remarkably short periods, demonstrating the power of targeted intervention paired with a rich, literature-based curriculum.

As an educator and clinician, Dr. Aziegbe specializes in literacy and language disorders, dyslexia remediation, communication, and curriculum development. Beyond her administrative role, she teaches Latin, provides extensive teacher training, and coaches staff in classical instructional methods. Her leadership philosophy centers on courage, clarity, and collaboration, ensuring that both students and educators are supported and empowered. Under her guidance, The Paracletus School has grown organically through word-of-mouth, and the institution is preparing to open a new building in August 2026, further expanding its capacity to serve neurodiverse learners.

Dr. Aziegbe holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. She is an active member of the International Dyslexia Association, ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association), the Houston Dyslexia Association, and the Special Schools Council. A recognized advocate for children with learning differences, she has presented her research nationally at Harvard and Stanford, receiving accolades such as the Sue Mossman Award for Outstanding Dissertation. Her career reflects a commitment to making challenging subjects accessible, fostering academic excellence, and ensuring every child not only has access but also the opportunity to thrive.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success primarily to my family, as well as to prayer and intuition. These guiding principles have shaped my career and have been instrumental in helping me grow The Paraclete School into the institution it is today.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is: “It’s not done until it’s on the dotted line.” This guidance has stayed with me throughout my career, reminding me to follow through completely and ensure that every commitment is fully realized.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering education is to always lead with a smile. Especially when working with young children, a smile can go a long way in building connections and fostering a positive, welcoming learning environment.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in education today is that many young professionals can get caught up in commitments, and sometimes relationships aren’t as genuine as they should be. My advice is to prioritize authenticity—building real, meaningful relationships is essential for success and impact in this field.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my work and personal life center on consistency and honesty. I always say, let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no—being a person of your word matters. Even when I make a mistake, I strive to admit it and learn from it. These principles shape everything I do, both in my work at The Paraclete School and in my personal life.
