Her Interview

Ten minutes with Erika

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to nearly 20 years of experience working with youth-centered programs, continuous learning, and the ability to adapt across diverse responsibilities. My work has included coaching, strategy, fundraising, property management, and leadership development, along with 15 years of service in Haiti. My education and commitment to developing others have also played an important role in my growth.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received from my mom is to pray before making difficult decisions. Her guidance has taught me to seek wisdom, remain grounded, and approach challenging choices thoughtfully.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering my industry to keep going against all odds, stay resilient, and remain committed to their goals even when challenges arise.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating criticism and the stigma that can come with being a woman in the industry. I see these challenges as opportunities to remain resilient, prove my capabilities, and continue creating a positive impact.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are connection, growth, and making a positive impact through my work with young people. I also value creativity and balance, which I express through travel, playing the piano, and my love of music.
