Erika Bozinovski
Erika Bozinovski is a dedicated arts professional and entrepreneur, blending her expertise in graphic design with a deep passion for dance and youth development. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Photography, and Painting, Erika has built a career that spans creative design, nonprofit leadership, and arts education. She has contributed her skills to a range of organizations, particularly those focused on hip-hop arts and diversity and inclusion initiatives, fostering creative communities and supporting meaningful programs across universities and nonprofit spaces.
In 2008, Erika founded Sweatshop Movement, a nonprofit dance academy serving predominantly underserved youth, formally establishing it in 2012. Based in Racine, Wisconsin, the academy has nurtured hundreds of young dancers, providing scholarships and discounted tuition to ensure access regardless of financial circumstances. Under her leadership, students at Sweatshop Movement have achieved national recognition, while Erika has emphasized creating safe, inclusive spaces where young people encourage each other’s growth both on and off the dance floor.
Alongside her nonprofit work, Erika maintains a thriving freelance career as a graphic and web designer, supporting two interconnected organizations—one specializing in global hip-hop education and another providing resources for nonprofits. She also serves as a dance adjudicator and consultant with the Wisconsin Dance Judge Network / WACPC, leveraging her expertise to guide and inspire the next generation of dancers. Erika’s work reflects a seamless integration of artistry, leadership, and a commitment to equity and empowerment in the arts.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a lifelong drive and curiosity that has consistently motivated me to take on new challenges. From a young age, I embraced opportunities both in and outside of school, learning to manage multiple responsibilities and pursue a wide range of interests. Over time, I realized that taking on diverse challenges not only built my skills but also reinforced my confidence, creating a momentum that continues to propel me forward. For me, success has been about approaching every opportunity with enthusiasm, dedication, and a willingness to stretch beyond my comfort zone.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to prioritize encouragement and support for one another. Too often, girls and women are positioned to see each other as competitors, even within collaborative environments. I believe that the way we lift up those around us directly contributes to our own growth and success. Creating safe, inclusive spaces—whether in the studio or the workplace—fosters confidence, collaboration, and resilience. Cultivating strong interpersonal relationships and supporting each other is not only empowering on a personal level but also reinforces the broader values of diversity and inclusion within our industry.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now revolve around navigating nonprofit compliance and evolving reporting requirements. Fundraising remains a constant focus, and I’m often tasked with making strategic decisions about our organizational structure—such as whether to maintain a formal 501(c)(3) status or operate under a state nonprofit model with a fiscal agent to manage larger donations. These decisions require balancing regulatory obligations, donor expectations, and the long-term sustainability of the organization.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me both personally and professionally include fostering encouragement, creating safe and supportive environments, and building strong interpersonal relationships. I’m particularly passionate about uplifting and empowering other women, helping them succeed and thrive in every aspect of their lives.
