About Erika
I've been working in content production for about 10 years, and my journey has taken me across continents and industries. I started as a YouTube manager for a soccer journalism channel in Brazil, where I gained all my expertise by traveling the world and interviewing the biggest names in soccer, including Pele and Eden Hazard. One of my most memorable achievements was conducting the last interview with Pele in 2020 in Santos, Sao Paulo, right before COVID started. It was incredibly challenging because we were the last interview of the day at 6 p.m. after major networks like Netflix and CBS had already interviewed him, and I had to keep both Pele and our tired team engaged and active. That interview became one of the most watched videos on our channel, which has over 3 million subscribers, and it was the last interview Pele gave before he passed away. After moving to the U.S., I shifted into bridal content production and have been in this space for 2 years. My previous company, Love Story CV, was acquired by David's Bridal a year ago, and now we serve as their whole arm of content production. I specialize in podcast production, handling everything from idealization and scripting to recording, post-production, editing, sound design, and social media strategy. We're now producing not just podcasts but also TV show-style content for YouTube, which is really exciting. I also run my own personal true crime podcast in Portuguese called Casos Reis, which I started in 2020 as a way to showcase my work and be in front of the camera, not just behind it. It has grown to become one of the 10 biggest true crime podcasts in Brazil with over 300,000 followers on Spotify and 5 to 6 million plays per month. We've worked with HBO Max, Spotify, and Netflix on advertisements, and I try to go deep in my research, sometimes even talking to the families of victims. I now have a team in Brazil including a writer, an editor, and a video editor working on it. I recently became a mother to my daughter Isabelle, who is one month old, and I'm learning to balance motherhood with my creative work.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It's so hard to say now because things have changed so much, but I would say always try your crazy ideas. If you have an idea and you think it's too crazy, it might not be. Someone might have already done that in some country, so just try to write it down and bring it to life. How you bring it to life is very important. You need to create a strategy for how you're going to put that into the world and spread that message. I think nowadays, with so much mass information, we really need to know and strategize how we're going to put that into the world, because the message that we are sharing is very important. No matter which creative idea you have, we can always turn it into content.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Right now, I would say the most challenging time is because of AI. Everything is changing very fast, in AI time, which is like seconds. When you're creating content that takes a little bit of time, it's really hard to produce something with good quality in such a fast pace. You need time to be creative. You need to be traveling, in other things, you need to have a break. Sometimes you're just watching something, and that's where I try to watch things related to what I do so I can get more ideas. I try to go away, to walk, to listen to some music, so then you can really have ideas and be more out there. With AI, you can be in a spiral of doing fast things using AI for everything and not really creating something new. AI helps us with things that take a long time, like titles, descriptions, maybe thumbnails, but the deep content, the long-form content, the personality that each host has, this is very particular and unique. You don't like most content because of the content, you like the person too. You get in touch with the person, you start recognizing some things, so you start liking that person. This personality, you cannot find with AI right now.
