Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ervina

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success has been driven by resilience, faith, and a strong commitment to lifelong learning. Returning to school later in life strengthened my discipline, time management, and determination to lead with purpose while remaining open to growth and feedback.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to never allow timing or age to define my potential. That perspective gave me the confidence to pursue higher education, embrace leadership opportunities, and commit to continuous growth.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering healthcare is to always center the patient in everything you do. Healthcare is demanding, and the systems can be complex, but compassion, ethics, and preparation will sustain you. Seek mentors who model integrity, advocate for yourself and your patients, and never underestimate the impact of clear communication and lifelong learning. When challenges arise, remain grounded in your purpose and committed to providing dignified, equitable care

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenge in healthcare is ensuring patients feel seen and heard within complex systems, and the opportunity lies in advocacy grounded in compassion, integrity, and service.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are integrity, compassion, accountability, and respect. These values guide how I serve patients, collaborate with colleagues, and show up consistently in both my professional and personal life.
