Her Story

About Estefania

I grew up watching different communities and my communities not have access to the correct resources and the correct support, so a lot of my work in public health is deeply personal to me. For the past 5 years, I've worked in the substance use field, focusing on community outreach and helping folks who need it access the resources they need for substance use and addiction. I'm passionate about helping clinicians, community healthcare workers, and even the admin staff in public health organizations to be better equipped to serve their communities that are experiencing substance use disorders, addiction, or just substance use generally. I create educational materials and resources for updates on any policy that's going on and any new emerging drug trends. On the consulting side, I work with small, mission-led startup organizations, helping them with backend work, organizing systems, and showing owners best practices. I've been able to help companies fine-tune the client relationship aspects and really help them build solid foundations with systems, processes, and communication so they can actually sustain their vision. When you're mission-led, you're usually doing work that benefits the people, and sometimes when you care so deeply about helping others, you sometimes kind of forget to take care of yourself. It's been a pleasure working with those small businesses - it's really fruitful, honestly.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Estefania

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think my true authenticity and my love for helping people has really shown through in my career and has led me to the places I am now.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be yourself. And be the change you want to see in the world.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think what I experience a lot of times is the most important work is chronically under-resourced. Mission-led organizations and public health programs are doing life-changing work, but are constantly fighting for funding, fighting for bandwidth, and fighting to be taken seriously at a systems level. And I think on the human side, burnout is real. People in these spaces care so deeply that they often give more than what is sustainable. And part of what I see as my role is helping build those structures that protect the mission and the people carrying it.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think having integrity, compassion, respect, and leading with your heart are the most important values to me. I love growing and becoming the best version of myself that I can possibly be every step of the way, and having integrity and humility and respect for everyone that I'm walking this path with.
