About Evani
Evani Govender brings more than two decades of technology expertise to her role in the nonprofit sector, where she has worked since 2020 at Tides. After beginning her studies in mechanical engineering, she switched to physics and computer science, which sparked her passion for the field. She started as a software developer and moved into business intelligence before seeking more fulfilling work that aligned with her values of giving back to society. This led her to positions including at the International Atomic Energy Agency, where she contributed to global initiatives such as nuclear non-proliferation. At Tides, a philanthropic grant-making organization, Evani serves in multiple capacities as a business analyst, data engineer, data architect, report writer, and software developer. She integrates systems like Salesforce and NetSuite to ensure efficient movement of funds from donors to grantees while supporting human rights and community initiatives. Passionate about ensuring nonprofits are not left behind in technological advancements, Evani is creating an open-source tool designed to help other organizations quickly implement data architecture solutions.
