Her Interview
Ten minutes with Evelyne
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think it's resilience. It is really never letting go of what my aspiration is and push forward, no matter how many obstacles I was facing. It took me 18 months to obtain the visa. I was working towards this goal for 18 months. Throughout my career, not everything was perfect, but I never gave up, so I would totally say it's this kind of strength that I have, that I carry in myself.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
It's very much the belief in yourself. People were seeing something in me that I could not see myself. They said you can be so much more than you think, so go and get that. Get your light out there, believe in yourself and don't stop. It's all about doing it, about believing in yourself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't ever let yourself think you are not as influential as the others. Don't hold back with your ideas. You have to be seen to be seen. Open our background and do all the great things, but we don't speak about it. Make sure you are seen for what you achieve and what you do, because that is the only way nowadays to move forward with the career.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see great opportunities. The assistant role has always been in a field of evolving requirements. If there is someone who can adjust to changing environments, it's just the profession. So I do see much more opportunities than challenges. Although of course it feels like there are more challenges, but on the long run I see great opportunities for us to place our role in a very different way than it has been for now, but we have to just work on that.
