Her Story
About Fabiola
Fabiola Arancibia is the owner and founder of Casa Pilates, a Pilates Reformer Studio in Larchmont Village, Los Angeles. An immigrant from Santiago, Chile who arrived in 1979, she graduated from UCLA with a 3.2 GPA and initially pursued interests in law before discovering her passion for makeup and art. After working in post-production and taking a special effects makeup class, she quit her job in February 2000 to pursue makeup full time, building a 30-year career as a celebrity makeup artist that included assisting major artists in New York after moving there in 2002 and returning to Los Angeles in 2013. A longtime Pilates enthusiast, she opened Casa Pilates to create a boutique studio near her Koreatown home, hiring instructors while continuing select makeup work. She attributes her success to never taking no for an answer, remaining persistent and laser-focused, and following the principle of being so good they cannot ignore you. Arancibia also volunteers every Sunday on Skid Row feeding the homeless.

Ten minutes with Fabiola
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to never taking no for an answer and always looking ahead without dwelling on the past. I am persistent and get laser-focused on what I decide to do, becoming a researcher who dives deep into every detail until I have all the answers. I learned from Steve Martin the quote 'be so good they can't ignore you' which resonates deeply because as an immigrant I didn't want to stick out but succeeded by doing things so well that attention came naturally.
