About Fabiola
My everyday work is really exciting because every day is kind of different. We have the opportunity to work in so many different types of projects - airports, offices, restaurants, transportation projects, residences, schools. I always say to everyone that we care a lot about our projects and our clients, so every project is unique and something special. My day sometimes involves a lot of coordination meetings, a lot of back and forth designing, doing calculations, sometimes layouts as well, and I help junior designers with production. At HLB we also have a lot of internal meetings to learn about how the company goes, business development, so it depends on the day but that's part of my day as well, learning all those skills. It's a little bit of everything - the creative, the technical and the business side - which makes it really exciting for me.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think the fact that I never give up. Work for your dreams, you know? There's no limit. The sky is the limit, literally, and if you are really confident about it, just go and look for it. There's so many opportunities out there, but that doesn't arrive just alone, you have to look for them.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I will say that if you're not sure what path to take, just start with something, and you can always reroute, you know? It's not that they functionally - if that's a fail, fail now, and not later. It's better to do it now and take the risk now. And the other thing I will say is, don't be shy, or don't think you're not ready. We're always ready, and just take that step. We think that we can, you know, this imposter syndrome - that we are not ready for something, but sometimes you just have to go and even fake it until you make it.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I feel like being true to yourself and your values over everything. Always be kind. Always listen to other opinions, because you can always learn a lot from all of those. And be yourself, you know? You don't have to fake anything, you don't have to pretend anything, just be kind, be present, and listen.
