Her Story
About Faith
Faith Connell has been an RN for 34 years and in healthcare leadership for 20 years. She built much of her leadership experience in behavioral health and mental health, leading nurses at large psychiatric hospitals. About two years ago, she took on management of critical care services, applying the culture-building skills she developed in behavioral health units. Most recently, Emory Healthcare in Atlanta hired her to enhance their behavioral health service lines and address gaps in psychiatric and mental health programming in the Atlanta market. Connell holds an MBA and an MSN along with additional certification. She has written four books, including strategies for nurse leaders and guidance for those in their early 50s considering career pivots. She attributes her success to strength in her faith and family, noting she was raised in a Christian home and believes she is where God wants her to be, supported by an internal drive to make a difference in healthcare and an external support system including her husband and parents. Connell volunteers with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, participating in their annual NAMI Walk, as well as walks for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Faith
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to strength in my faith and family. I was raised in a Christian home and believe I am exactly where God wants me. I have an internal drive and desire to make a difference in healthcare, supported by an amazing external support system including my husband, parents, and village that believed in me. I have never wanted to do anything other than healthcare because there are so many avenues to do good and touch lives.
