About Faith
Faith Rono practices immigration law in Worthington, Minnesota, with a focus on humanitarian cases. She assists clients from marginalized communities with asylum applications, VAWA and U visa filings, and legal status matters for children. Rono earned her law degree in Kenya and began her legal studies in 2016 after completing aviation school training in flight dispatch and operations, which she ultimately did not pursue. She passed the Wisconsin bar exam on her first attempt and obtained a Master's degree in the United States in 2024. Rono is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar and the Law Society of Kenya. She provides pro bono legal services to the community and was named to the dean's list of honor for two consecutive terms during her Master's program. Her work is guided by values of honesty, accountability, and transparency, and she attributes her success to the encouragement of her parents. Rono was inspired to enter law by experiences with injustice in her Kenyan village.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Faith
01What do you attribute your success to?
My parents encouraged me to go for it.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Go for it. Take a risk. If you fail, you fail. If you learn, you learn. It's never easy, and you never know until you try.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do not let anyone dim their lights. It's a very competitive, male-dominated field. If you want to do it, do it. Let no one give you a light, because if someone else can do it, then you can do it as well.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Navigating the legal system between the United States and Kenya, which takes much time and is draining having to relearn everything.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, taking accountability, and being transparent.
