Her Interview

Ten minutes with Fariba

01What do you attribute your success to?

Don't give up. I applied four times to become a member of Spanish Village Arts Center, getting rejected three times but persisted because I wanted to show my daughter the importance of not giving up. On the fourth try, I got accepted with great comments from judges. Art is subjective with different tastes, so persistence pays off.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Try not to make any enemy for yourself at your career. Just be friendly with everybody. You never know when you might run into those people again.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Continue your passion and don't give up. When you get lost, think about your goal and what you want to accomplish, then go for it. Read stories of people who inspire you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is my language because I'm teaching in English as my second language after only teaching in Persian communities for over 10 years. I have to concentrate on grammar instead of my demo.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Enjoy every single moment. Even when painting and drawing, have fun and enjoy the moment. If not enjoying it, take a break and refresh. Painting and drawing is like meditating and relaxation.
