About Farnaz
Farnaz Tamari has served as a dental director since 2007, overseeing one of the largest dental facilities in Manhattan and currently managing the build-out of an even larger facility along with a full-service dental lab. A dentist by trade, her expertise encompasses leadership in dentistry, public health, and teaching, including running federally qualified health centers and helping to run residency programs at hospitals. She co-invented a tool used for scientific research and co-owns a home health aid training school, where she focuses on preparing the next generation of healthcare workers. Tamari attributes her success to a deep belief in kindness and helping others, and she advises leaders to model desired behaviors, approach their roles with humility, elevate those around them, support their teams, and maintain a positive outlook. She is a mother of four and actively volunteers with Chabad of Lake Success, Dental Volunteers of Israel providing care in Jerusalem, the Pranic Healing Community, and a group she founded called CHAI for young women, as well as senior centers and her children's schools.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Farnaz
01What do you attribute your success to?
I just believe very much in kindness. Not to sweat the small stuff, to help when you can. When you help others it comes back to you multiple fold. A smile or holding the door or complimenting someone goes a long way.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
As a leader you have to model the behavior that you want to see in your team. Come from a place of humility, work to elevate the people around you. Stand by your team, support them. Stay positive and expect the best.
