Her Story
About Farrah
I started my career path planning to do nursing, but I bumped into the opportunity to become a brand representative when I was looking for a job. I've been in this field for more than half a year now, and as a student newbie, I'm still learning every day. My role is to work as a middleman in a franchise e-commerce model, where I connect companies and their products with customers. I work with many brands including Artistry, Nutrilite, and others. My day-to-day involves introducing products to people when I go out and meet with them. What I'm most proud of professionally is that I'm able to connect with many different types of people. The mentorship I receive from my coach and mentor has been the most important factor in helping me figure out what to do and how to navigate this field successfully.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Farrah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my mom, who has been the one who helped me a lot. She provides the emotional support and all the finances that I need. She doesn't work as much, so she helped me a lot and takes care of most of the stuff. She gives me the opportunities and money to move forward. Without her support, I wouldn't be where I am today.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say, try to find many ways to involve in things, and then you'll eventually find out what you like. This will help you understand more about yourself. You will get the self-awareness that you're looking for, and then you won't be guided by the stuff that is not good out there. Getting involved in different things helps you discover your path and protects you from negative influences.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I would say that I had to overcome my own fear and my self-objection, because I usually think of many ways that become reasons to stop me from moving forward. But during this mentorship, I actually got a chance to overcome that. I also had to overcome my family objections and my family background, because a lot of things have been happening during the past few months. I'm happy that I'm not breaking down and giving up with all the action that I put in.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would say trust, communication, and mentorship are most important to me. If there's a problem and people don't say it out loud or ask for advice or help, it won't help with anything, and the problem will still stay there. Or if they avoid it, it will eventually come again, so you keep getting the same problem again and again. That's why communication is so critical. You need to be able to speak up about issues and seek guidance when you need it, otherwise problems just persist and repeat themselves.
