Fay Spence

Fay Spence is a dedicated legal professional serving as a Staff Attorney for the U.S. District Court, Western District of Virginia. Since joining the court in 2019, she has managed a complex caseload of post-conviction petitions and civil rights cases filed by state prisoners, providing critical support through drafting opinions and guiding the judicial process. Her work demonstrates a deep commitment to justice, legal rigor, and meticulous attention to detail in criminal law and civil rights matters.

Fay earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Criminal Justice and Safety Studies from Walden University, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her academic achievements reflect her expertise in legal research, writing, and criminal justice, which she applies daily in her work at the federal court. In addition to her professional and academic accomplishments, Fay enjoys reading, hiking, and needlework, pursuits that reflect her curiosity, discipline, and creative side.
