Her Interview
Ten minutes with Felecia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being flexible, versatile, and willing to keep learning throughout my career. I’ve consistently embraced new responsibilities, worked across teams and disciplines, and remained open to opportunities that stretched my skills and perspective. I’ve never been afraid to make a lateral move when it offered the chance to learn something new or positioned me for greater long-term growth. Looking back, some of those moves became the experiences that broadened my perspective, strengthened my leadership, and prepared me for opportunities I couldn’t have anticipated at the time.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to remain consistent and persistent, especially when progress feels slow. Setbacks are inevitable, but meaningful growth often comes from continuing to show up, improve, and stay focused long after the initial momentum fades. I’ve learned that consistency builds credibility, resilience, and opportunity and over time, those small, disciplined efforts compound into significant professional growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Early in your career, focus on building a broad foundation, learn the business, understand how your work contributes to the business outcomes, and seek experiences beyond your immediate role. Find mentors and advocates, but also learn to advocate for yourself. Most importantly, don’t let a job title define what you believe you’re capable of. Your career will evolve, and sometimes the opportunities that stretch you the most are the ones that ultimately shape you as a leader.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in marketing today is the rapid evolution of AI. Marketers have access to more data, technology, and content capabilities than ever, but the real opportunity is learning how to use those tools strategically rather than simply doing more, faster. At the same time, marketing leaders are under increasing pressure to demonstrate clear business value. The future of marketing isn’t about producing more activity; it’s about using technology, insight, and human judgment to make better decisions and drive measurable growth.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are balance, well-being, meaningful relationships, and resilience. I believe professional success is most sustainable when it is supported by a strong personal foundation. Movement has always been an important part of my life, whether through yoga, Pilates, or simply spending time outdoors with my husband. As a semi-retired yoga and Pilates instructor, I’ve seen firsthand how physical activity supports mental clarity, energy, and resilience. I also value making time to recharge and connect with friends and family, because those relationships and experiences help me show up more fully in every area of my life.
