Her Story
About Felicite
I started doing comedy in French when I was just 12 years old in Africa, doing stand-up comedy all over the city of Djamena in Chad. I always felt like I had a voice that could defend a lot of people and say something that people feel like they can't say. Being in Africa, in the name of tradition, there are a lot of things that women cannot say, a lot of things that women have to be respectful about and not say because they don't have to hurt men's feelings. So I got into it because I really love to do it and it makes me proud of having women express themselves. I've been working in the movie industry for more than 8 years now as an actress, producer, and film director. Before that, I worked as a night shift manager with nonprofits that take care of single mothers, which is my field because I always work with women, I always work in nonprofits, and I always try to boost women and what they do. I also owned a beauty supply and hair salon in Connecticut before closing it down and moving to Houston. What I'm most proud of is producing my movies because it helps me talk about what women are going through. I am being a voice of the voiceless, expressing and telling people out there that women have a right to do everything that men are doing. I have a movie that I finalized on violence against women that is supposed to be out in June. I was invited to the Cannes Festival in 2022 and 2023, and being out there at the red carpet with all those named celebrities was so overwhelming and made me hope more in what I'm doing.

Ten minutes with Felicite
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to God first of all, because I'm a Christian, and then to my parents. I really lost both of them in less than 2 years, so they rest in peace and I just love them both. My dad and my mom made me who I am today.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and loyalty are really important to me. Being loyal is something that matters a lot in both my personal and professional life.
