Felisha Bowe is the Chief Cook and Owner of Island Girl Bahamian Cuisine LLC, a premier catering business based in Columbus, Ohio. Since founding the company in March 2020, Felisha has built a loyal and diverse clientele by bringing authentic Bahamian flavors to private events, corporate gatherings, and special occasions. Her culinary expertise, combined with her commitment to quality and creativity, has established her as a respected figure in the local food and catering industry.

Felisha has honed her skills in food preparation, safety, and service management over more than seven years in the food service industry, including leadership experience as a shift manager. She is passionate about sharing her culture through food and is dedicated to creating memorable dining experiences that connect people to the flavors and traditions of the Bahamas. Beyond the kitchen, Felisha is known for her entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to customer satisfaction, and her motto: “Bringing a Taste of the Bahamas to the Greater Columbus Area.”

In addition to her culinary work, Felisha is actively engaged in her community. She serves as Vice President of the Nurses Board at her church and leads initiatives to support underserved populations. Her achievements have been recognized with the 2025 Mahogany Columbus Small Business Award, celebrating her dedication to excellence, cultural representation, and community impact. I attribute my success to my passion for sharing the flavors and culture of the Bahamas, dedication to quality, and a commitment to serving my community. Every late night, every effort, and every person who has believed in me has contributed to where I am today.

Stay committed to your craft, embrace creativity, and lead with both heart and professionalism. Success comes from passion, persistence, and generosity.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in the culinary and catering industry is the ability to share cultural experiences through food while building strong relationships with communities. At the same time, maintaining high-quality service and adapting to client needs is a continual challenge.
