Fern Marrufo

Fern Marrufo serves as the Organ Utilization Specialist Team Lead at Iowa Donor Network. She has spent nine years in the organ procurement field, assisting her team with imports, allocation, logistics, scheduling, and quality documentation while collaborating with transplant centers. Marrufo earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. Her path began as a CNA working through school, followed by nursing school graduation around 2019 and immediate entry into the neurotrauma ICU, where exposure to organ donors led to her recruitment by the Organ Procurement Organization of Iowa. She is a member of the ALBO organization and contributes to a non-profit focused on organ donation.
