Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to persistence, the support of my family, and leveraging my multicultural background to create professional advantages. Moving to the U.S. from Brazil and working in another language taught me resilience and adaptability, which I use every day to manage client relationships, communicate effectively with journalists, and navigate the healthcare PR landscape. I’m passionate about multicultural media and advancing diversity and inclusion, and I’m always excited to take on new challenges and continue learning from people I admire.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to lead by example and never stop striving for growth, lessons I’ve learned from my father and continue to see in my husband. My father’s dedication and hard work taught me the value of persistence and going after your dreams, while my husband’s support and drive inspire me daily to push myself further. Their examples have shown me that commitment, resilience, and a strong support system are key to building a fulfilling and successful career.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to be confident in your abilities, especially if you’ve overcome language or cultural barriers—take pride in how far you’ve come. Stay curious, keep learning, and embrace new opportunities so you can grow, serve your clients exceptionally, and always be your best self.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is securing media attention for important stories from underserved communities, especially during slow news periods, and helping others understand the value of earned media. At the same time, there’s a huge opportunity to use multicultural and D&I expertise to amplify these voices and expand coverage through diverse media outlets.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are empathy, respect, and treating others the way I would want to be treated. I believe it’s essential to recognize that everyone comes from a different place and to approach each interaction with kindness and understanding. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, exploring different cultures, and reading, all of which help me broaden my perspective and connect more deeply with the world around me.
