Fernanda (Fe) Cavaliere is a results-driven executive with extensive experience in risk strategy, governance, and regulatory oversight within the financial services industry. She currently serves as Director of Regulatory Oversight Management and AS KYC CDD Executive at BNY, where she leads initiatives to ensure compliance, strengthen governance frameworks, and enhance resiliency across complex organizational and international operations. Known for her ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments, Fernanda excels at developing strategic operating models that mitigate risk while enabling business growth.
Prior to joining BNY, Fernanda spent over nine years at Charles Schwab, where she held progressive leadership roles in global governance and risk management. She was instrumental in designing and implementing governance frameworks for international subsidiaries, overseeing cross-border business risk, and launching new products in global markets. Her work included the successful establishment of Schwab’s Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise (WFOE) in Shanghai and the development of strategic risk-informed decision models that enhanced organizational readiness and increased product launch efficiency.
Fernanda holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in International Business, Trade, and Tax Law from Estácio and a BA in Physical Therapy from Universidade Castelo Branco, reflecting her diverse educational background and multidisciplinary approach. She is also certified in Agile Project Management, Cognitive Flexibility, and Mental Agility, among other professional certifications. Fluent in Portuguese and proficient in Italian, Fernanda is recognized for her exceptional leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and ability to leverage principled performance as a strategic advantage in complex, global financial environments.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having strong role models throughout my life and striving to be a great role model for my son. Observing and learning from individuals who demonstrated integrity, resilience, and leadership helped shape my approach to both my career and personal life. At the same time, being mindful of the example I set for my son motivates me to lead with purpose, make thoughtful decisions, and demonstrate the values I hope to instill in the next generation.
This balance of learning from others while actively modeling positive behaviors has guided my growth, helped me overcome challenges, and reinforced the importance of mentorship, accountability, and leading by example in both professional and personal settings.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to recognize that every quality or perceived weakness has both an upside and a downside. It’s important to understand your strengths and areas for growth equally, and to learn how to leverage them strategically. By being self-aware and intentional about how you apply your skills, you can turn challenges into opportunities and maximize your impact.
