Her Story

About Fidelina

I hold a bachelor's degree in journalism, which I received in 2010, and began my career working in newspapers and radio stations focusing on social communications and marketing. My first language is Spanish, and after learning English, I made a significant career transition into manufacturing and logistics. I invested in my professional development by taking courses at Houston Community College, which helped me advance through promotions over five years. Today, with more than 10 years of experience in my field, I work in procurement for a global industrial gases company with 60,000 employees and a presence all over the world. Based in Pasadena, Texas, I manage inventory levels and procurement planning, supporting plants across the United States and Canada. I ensure inventory levels are optimal and coordinate planning for scheduled maintenance, making sure all necessary parts arrive on time. Throughout my career, I've also earned diplomas in quality control and manufacturing processes. Working in the oil and gas industry, which is predominantly male (about 80% men to 20% women), I'm proud to serve as second in command under a female manager. My goal is to retire early from this company, which offers excellent benefits, and pursue my dream of having a little farm.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I believe it's very important to support other women and validate ourselves. In the world we're living in right now, everybody is important, and every reason is important. We shouldn't be in a position of fighting for our rights, but it's still happening that, as a woman, we have to basically double work because either you work outside and then you're back home. It's changing little by little, but I think empowering women is crucial so that everybody can have more confidence and see that if others can do it, they can do it too. I'm very happy to see the change that we are preparing every day in my field, which is 80% men and 20% women. My manager is a woman, and I'm the second in command, and the rest are guys. The company is very supportive, giving us courses and all the tools we need to learn more, and we're learning every day with the technology we have right now.
