Her Story
About Fiorela
Fiorela Lindsey serves as Senior Account Executive at Interplan LLC, specializing in architecture and engineering sales from her office in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She brings more than two decades of sales experience, having transitioned through roles in banking, staffing, and technology before joining Interplan in 2023, where she focuses on developing client relationships, uncovering needs, closing deals, and representing the company at conferences and events. An immigrant to the United States, Lindsey began her career as a telemarketer and has built her expertise through persistent self-education, including state licenses, courses, reading, and audiobooks, after attending a Florida community college without graduating. She credits her achievements to a disciplined routine of rising at 4:45 a.m. for workouts and maintaining daily to-do lists, combined with a commitment to following directions and acting as a team player. Lindsey values integrity, open-mindedness, and honesty in both her professional and personal life, and she advises focusing on genuinely helping clients while believing in the products and services offered rather than fixating solely on closing sales.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Fiorela
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being very disciplined. I get up at 4:45 every morning to work out and maintain a to-do list every single day. I follow directions from my boss or manager and focus on being a team player rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. This disciplined approach has paid off well for me over my 20-plus years in sales.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice is don't worry about getting the sale. Focus on truly helping someone. To feel like I'm helping, I have to believe in the product or service I offer, and it has to be genuine. If I lose a sale, that's fine as long as I tried to help, and it balances out in the end.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have integrity at work and keep your word because your word is your value. Do what you say you're going to do. Be disciplined, dress well, live well, and give your best effort. Don't do anything halfway - always give it your all and do a good job.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is keeping up with processes, including learning new processes in a new industry and using AI to simplify things, which can also be complex. In my case, learning the complexities of architecture and engineering sales has been challenging but I embrace it with the mindset that every situation is something I can get under my belt.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is one of the most important values, along with being open-minded and honest. Integrity includes owning your actions, accountability, and loyalty. Being open-minded helps in dealing with people and not missing opportunities by judging too quickly based on one interaction.
