About Florence
Florence Matangira has spent the past six years working in government technology. She founded and established her business this year after initial background work. Her inspiration came from a college friend's experience researching candidates for local elections, which led her to develop an app aimed at making voting information more accessible. She soft-launched the app around South by Southwest in February and plans a full launch in mid-August. Matangira holds a bachelor's degree and a few certifications. She is based in Austin and engages with the startup community there. A typical day involves working with her developer on architecture and feasibility, beta testing with professors from public policy, political science, technology, and communications departments, reaching out to venture capitalists in the GovTech space, and creating intentional content for digitally native voters using nostalgic cartoons. She volunteers with Venture Labs, a startup accelerator for middle and high school students, and the Mishaya Muda Christian Development Fund, which was started by her grandparents to help those in need. She also participates in events through Capital Factory, Fiesta, and the Artemis Fund.
