About Fonda
Fonda Bryant is the Founder and Executive Director of Wellness Action Recovery, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to mental health advocacy and suicide prevention. A certified QPR Suicide Prevention Instructor and survivor of suicide, Fonda has committed her career to raising awareness, providing education, and equipping individuals with the tools to prevent suicide. Through her work, she emphasizes that mental health challenges are not a sign of weakness, but a call to support, understanding, and proactive intervention.
With a professional background that spans customer service, administrative roles, and strategic support across organizations such as Duke Energy and Trustmark Life Insurance, Fonda brings exceptional analytical, technical, and relational skills to her nonprofit work. She also served on the board of NAMI NC for eight years, promoting mental health awareness through media, community engagement, and corporate partnerships, and has volunteered extensively to support programs that uplift individuals and families navigating mental health challenges.
Fonda’s advocacy has earned her national recognition, including “Advocate of the Year” from the Black Mental Health Symposium and “Remarkable Woman of the Year” from Nexstar Media. Passionate about education and prevention, she teaches Mental Health First Aid and QPR Suicide Prevention courses, helping hundreds of individuals become trained gatekeepers who can save lives. Through her work, Fonda continues to inspire hope, dismantle stigma, and transform personal and community resilience in mental health.
