Ten minutes with Fran

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think use your female mentors or peers. There's so much power in connection. The female mentorship I've had has been amazing. I've formed some really incredible connections and learned a lot about my capability through that space. Just not being afraid to take up space. Your voice is so important. You have a really amazing and unique perspective and that deserves to be heard.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The double-edged sword of the current administration and funding issues in local government. There's loss of funding and capacity but it has forced more creativity and intention. It's lit a creative fire to figure out ways to continue supporting community. There's increased interest in including diverse perspectives and listening to diverse voices.
