Frances Czeponis

I've been in the insurance industry my entire career, starting during my junior year of college when I interned with the environmental insurance team at SAMPO. They hired me into their trainee program, which was wonderful and helped me develop for a year before I became an underwriter. I've now been working as an underwriter for about 2 years on our environmental team. A typical day for me varies, which is part of what I love most about the job. There's a large desk component where I receive submissions from contractors who are seeking insurance, and I evaluate the risk and decide whether or not we want to offer them a quote for insurance and for how much. But we also get out into the field quite a bit, working with brokers who are the in-between between us and the client. I spend a lot of time visiting offices, going out to lunches, and attending insurance events because it's a big relationship building business. One of my proudest achievements has been developing our Canadian territory, where we hadn't performed business before for my team. I've been traveling up to Canada often and leading the development of that territory.
